Chris Strong - DG 1000

Another model from Paritech with 8.8mtrs span and weight of 25 kg. Kit came virtually finished with canopies, undercarriage etc fitted and even with servos etc installed!! The latter seemed sensible as it was my first large glider.

Power distribution system is a UA9, simple single circuit printed board with voltage matching on two 4800 nimhs, capable of in excess of 20 amps 12 inputs with every connection to the rx providing rx power: no need for ferrite rings but all rx outputs MUST go through the UA9. Two Multiplex !2 channel IPD synth rxs.

The fuselage breaks down into two parts meaning that the whole glider plus a 6 mtr one can go in my estate car! The glider is available with flaps (although the full size does not have them) and, on reflection I might have preferred them – indeed there are a host of extras which can be got from Paritech although I wasn’t aware of all these when I got the kit.

Professionals make it look very easy to fly – certainly it flew hands off though it could probably benefit from at least another kilo or two up front – so far I have added a kilo and a quarter. I ordered it with blue on the underside flying surfaces but unfortunately only the wings were coloured. Hey ho, can’t have everything right.
