Schweizer-mania + Nimbus 3

The website of Jim Phoenix carries a host of very detailed restoration photos for the Schwizer 1-26. In the left menu column of his website, the models '686' and '525' are the '1-26e' variants, whereas '038' is the '1-26b' version.
For the glass modelers out there, you will find on the same site detail pictures of a Nimbus 3
(Thanks to Chris Williams and Don Turner for the link)

Newly certified Allstar 2 seater
Allstar are the owners of the range of Polish gliders originally sold under the SZD types from Bielsko.
On the 2nd April they certified their new two seat glider named the Perkoz, designed back in 1991 as the SZD 54 when production was stopped due to the companies bankruptcy. It is a replacement for the well known trainer the SZD 50 Puchacz.

Here is a composite picture I produced with the new Perkoz in the background and the older Puchacz in the foreground. This clearly shows the change of the wing mounting and the rearward move of the tailplane..
Photos of the new glider can be found here
Details of the original SZD54 project are here
Thanks to Zbigniew Michalczyk for the news

A Really useful Database
13th April
From Jean-marc Zuliani
As an RC addict for the last 26 years, I decided few months ago to build a DataBase which try to list every RC aircraft & glider kits produced in the world.
In only 10 months of existence I already have more than 366 000 visits.
Today, 1163 gliders are in my DataBase, most of them are scale sailplanes.
Access the site here. For future refernce, this useful link has been added permanently to the top of this page

News shortage
Interesting news is in short supply at the moment, in the meantime Schempp Hirth has carried out the maiden flight of their new version of the Ventus. The 2cxa uses the 18 meter wing and a longer fuselage sporting a larger rudder. Details are a bit scant at the moment. Quote from their site "Numerous spectators admired the elegant silhouette"

In the meantime here are a couple of light hearted videos from YouTube
First off shows that power planes easily burn.
Secondly, just for TV fun

Chinese R/C
I just had an email in from China offering to sell me R/C gear and thought you may like to check their website, (although it is very slow) to see what is on offer. It seems the Chinese interest in our hobby is growing. Personally, some cheap Axel type pilots would be of interest
