"Photos from a photo mission. I flew formation with Clayton Stansell's Cessna 175 for about 35 minutes. The twin AT-450's only required about 50% thrust to keep the sailplane in the formation at 80 MPH indicated (about 92 MPH true) at 7000' MSL. "

The classic ag-plane of the 60s is now taking flight from the hangar of TMRC thanks to the great design of Dick Graham. A faithful reproduction of both the PA-25 Pawnee from Piper and Dick's 1980 Nats winning scale design, the quarter scale all laser-cut kit will have a wide performance range with 42cc to 62cc gas engines and be fully capable of towing up to 6 meter scale sailplanes weighing over 25 lbs or carrying 5 pounds of dusting powder or tootsie rolls in its optional laser cut hopper kit with included plans.
The laser cut short kit is as near accurate to the prototype with the addition of full plywood sides from the rear of the canopy forward to the firewall, and new plywood tabbed and slotted front formers including a fuel tank compartment. In addition, all servos are now mounted within 12" of the surfaces they actuate to minimize long linkages and simplify construction while providing better control response and margin of safety. The model has a 108" (2.7m) span, 72" (183cm) length, 1700 in. square wing area. Weight is only 18-22 lbs. and requires 7-9 servos for rudder, elevator, flaps(2), aileron(2), throttle and optional tow release and dusting hopper actuator.
Short kit contents consists of more than 130 precision cut parts including 72 qty 1/8" balsa wing ribs (both full and partial ribs plus all aileron and flap ribs), 4 qty 3/32" and 1/8" aircraft ply root and strut attach ribs, 30 fuselage side, bulkhead and hatch formers and frames 1/16", 1/8" and 1/4" ply, 8 qty 1/8" through 1/4" balsa fuselage cockpit/canopy formers, 6 wing and tail tip, leading/trailing edge 1/4" formers with jigging notches, and 8 miscellaneous control horn, tail wheel and servo mounting plates and gussets plus three part 5/16" landing gear wire kit. TMRC also offers complete hardware packages as well as all special cut long stock to complete the aircraft including spars and wing struts plus vacuum formed strut fairings, fiberglass engine cowl and custom made scale sprung jig-welded chromolly tubing landing gear struts.
Base kit price is $395.00 US and more images and specs and ordering information may be found at www.tmrcsailplanes.com or in the UK or Europe from www.belairmodels.com.

The new Hall Cherokee II has just been released by TMRC Sailplanes. The quarter scale Cherokee II drawn and flown by David Smith, is based upon the 1956 design of Stan Hall developed specifically for the home built market as an all-wood, all-fabric-covered sailplane.
The laser cut short kit is as near accurate to the original as feasible and builds a very lightly loaded and very thermal- and aerotow-capable airframe with vintage looks that only pre-1960 designs can offer. The model has a 132" (3.35m) span with optional scale or sport scale wing shown on plans, is 64.9" (165cm) in length with 13.6:1 aspect ratio, 1280 in. square wing area. Weight is only 6.5 lbs. with wing loading of 11.7 oz. per in. square. It uses the scale GOE 649 airfoil and requires 5-7 servos for rudder, elevator, spoiler, aileron and optional tow release.
Short kit contents inlcude all complex fuselage and turtledeck plywood and balsa bulkheads and formers, keels, crutches and wheel and wing mount formers, plus brass sleeves and 3/8" (11mm) 7075 T6 wing joiner, landing wheel, axle wire and stop collars, plus pushrod set for tails, all ply and balsa wing and stabilizer ribs and roots, stab and fin trailing edges and spars, cockpit and canopy formers and bows, plus canopy glazing, large nylon hinges, incidence pin wire and sleeve, and miscellaneous nuts, bolts and washers.
Kit price is $195.00 US and includes complete high quality hardware package and more images and specs and ordering information may be found at www.tmrcsailplanes.com or in the UK or Europe from www.belairmodels.com.
