Following on from this Documentation, Jim Short from the U.S emailed me with this information on the history of the full-size version of Cliffs model of D-9107

"We happen to own this glider right now (not the model), and it is based in Lawrenceville, IL 9USA). Since the days of D-9107, which was owned by the Sportflieger Club Balgo in Germany, it became OO-ZTT when it belonged to the Royal Antwerp Soaring Club "Meeuw" in the 1990's. Since 2000 it has belonged to my wife and me and is now registered as N582KA (an N-registered '58 KA2). The "kit" was started in 1955 and it was certificated in 1958. It flies great and will be with us at the International Vintage Sailplane Meet at Harris Hill, Elmira, NY (USA) from August 20 - 26 this year...a couple weeks from now. (2005)

We can eventually give you a fair amount of information including, of course, its current configuration. It currently is configured as it was in 1969 when the "pointed" nose was added. The instrumentation has been updated these days and, as the pictures show, it is now mostly off-white with a lime green stripe on the fuselage.

The attached picture is a blow up of a portion of a picture from 1970 when it was known as the "Gilb GTX" (Bavarian spelling) or as we would say "The Yellow GTX". The story is that they wanted to make it look and sound more modern since it was a 1950's design being used in a club 20 years later.

It was damaged after this and then repainted to look as it was in the Geistman picture you attached to your last e-mail." (below)

And below is the Ka-2b as it appears today in 2005
