Have confirmed with the Museum that the cost for camping is £8 per night per caravan/motor home, payable to the man on the gate next morning. We are allowed on the campsite/car park from midday on Friday and if you so desire you can stay on the Sunday night for Monday departure, you would have to pay in the museum on the Monday morning if you did this. I have just told them a rough estimate on numbers for the camping.

Pat

Henryk linked to the Emcotec website some interesting MPX products. One is a housing + frame and costs 6.90 euros for 5 pieces.

http://shop.rc-electronic.com/e-vendo.php?shop=k_emcotec_e&SessionId=&a=article&ProdNr=A85010&t=12&c=44&p=44

Another is a housing with flange and costs 2.90 euros for 5 pieces.

http://shop.rc-electronic.com/e-vendo.php?shop=k_emcotec_e&SessionId=&a=article&ProdNr=A85016&t=12&c=44&p=44

The photos don't really allow me to work out what the difference is, apart from the housing + frame coming in 2 parts and the housing with flange being one part. Seems that once installed they both achieve the same result. Has anyone used them to be able to explain the difference?

Regards
Mike

Hello All,

The first event of the season was a success for the new tug! Our resident videographer couldn't attend and as yet, I have not received any "in action" pictures from anyone.

Here are my findings:

The tail wheel strake works as hoped....no towline snags the entire weekend!

The V-tail requires tip plates to be added to stop the tow line sliding off the tips when turning the model on the ground. Once added I think the tow line will rarely find it's way under the tail.

The wheels are too small and hard. I've ordered some larger spongy Cub wheels for it.

I'll post any new developments as they happen.

There are event pictures here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1542409&page=4

Cheers, Nigel

Glider Guiders - ASK-18 balance point query

This is an intersting point as I am jsut about to balance my own CC K-18. I remember on my old one that I gradually eased the CG back, right to the edge of the comfort zone. It was such a well mannered machine that I found I could fly it like this and it was a very good thermal sniffer with this set up. I will start conservatively though for safety.
I was planning to fly it this weekend and so naturally the forecast is for 40mph NE winds and rain! Sorry chaps. Mea Culpa. If I had just finished a lead sled you can be sure the forecast would be for gentle zephyrs.

I have plans to use a newer airfoil section, and would never try to go with the 1:1 airfoils, totally different Reynolds figures.

I have pretty much boiled it down to the HQ series. I will prolly build two sets of wings, one set with no washout and more chamber on the tip foils (same effect as W/O) and the second set with thinner camber at the tip with a degree or two W/O.

Just for shits and giggles.

Peace, Wolf
