Russian glider info needed please

Post by Chris Wynn »

Happy New Year!
Can any one help with any information on the 1935 all purpose glider, the MAK-8 please? I know that there is a certain expectation that I'll try another oddball design and this fits the bill perfectly if I can only find more info and photos, the Russian Embassy aren't talking to me, I've already tried there but there must be something other a few sentences of text and a dodgy 3 view. All donations gratefully received!
Cheers,
Chris.

Have just messaged the Russian Glider Aerobatic Team about the MAK-8, I wonder if they'll answer?
Chin up!

(You may have seen this already...) from http://airspot.ru/book/file/94/shushuri ... anerov.pdf (p 58) There's also a 3 view on p. 11.

MAC-8
Educational single-seat glider through training pilot's design MA Kuzakova.
(1935)
The glider is adapted for training on it flights, from jogs and ending
Towing and aerobatics.
In 1935 the Montenegrin Planetary Station of the Krasnoyarsk Territory was built
Four gliders of this type. Gliders during testing showed good qualities, proving
The possibility of creating a glider of end-to-end training, on which it is possible to perform
Aerobatics figures and P-5 aircraft towing.
The airframe layout is very original and was independently developed by the Siberian pilot-
Glider MA Kuzakov on the basis of his great methodical and design
Experience.
The glider does not have a fuselage, the role of which is played by a developed centroplane,
The organic part of the whole wing. The consoles have a forward run. Design of airframe
Simple and very easy. Weight 65 kg for a glider doing all the aerobatics,
Is a record low. (See sheet 3 of the atlas.)
Glider data
Span 9,6 m
Wing area 13,7 m
2
Elongation 6.75
Empty weight 65,0 kg
Payload 80.0 kg
Weight useful 145.0 kg
Load per 1 m
2 wings 10.6 kg
The coefficient of static overloading of the wing in the case of A 11.5

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your trouble, you have found two of the three items that I managed to unearth, the third is the same three view but with span and length added in pen. It certainly is obscure, the good side is that I can make up almost anything as long as I call it 'semi-scale'. I thought to make a foam 1/5 scale to test the concept before a 1/4 built up version. Thanks again.

Nice one Vince - I often wondered what it looked like.
