Interesting Rog, but one has to ask WHY?
Surely if you build a 1:1 scale aircraft you climb in and fly it yourself!

I feel the same Brian, although I still love all the engineering and craftsmanship that must have gone into it. I'd be interested to know its flying weight, presumably much less than the piloted version judging by the guy lifting the nose by himself.

I suspect the reason is that the authorities would not allow a manned replica because the original drawings no longer exist.
The original was a brilliant piece of design but the wing ribs are remarkably thin and all the structure is parred to the bone and might not meet todays strength requirements. It would be interesting to see it flown at the true scale weight, as the original was said to be a bit of a handful.

What a great achievement and a wonderful bit of flying - well done that man.
