Milson Airstrip 23rd / 24th June 2018

With the kind permission of Chris Jones, the owner of Milson Airstrip, near Cleobury Mortimer on the Worcestershire/Shropshire border.  This site is very remote and a narrow lane has to be negotiated for the last half a mile to get to the entrance (or more depending on your approach) but it is a very quaint private farm type full size airstrip with half a dozen or so planes resident in the hanger. Chris, the owner is a very accommodating guy and a modeller as well and loves to have us there, with camping welcomed.

The strip is only 30 or 40 feet wide so good communication is required to coordinate take offs and landing, but all the meetings so far have been friendly low key affairs and have been most enjoyable.

More details to follow nearer the event.

TVSA Aerotows at Shrivenham near Swindon

28th / 29th July

The TVSA would like to invite you all again to our 2 Aerotow meetings at the Vale Of The White Horse Gliding Centre at Shrivenham near Swindon.

These are both 2 day events and camping is available from the Friday evening, but please do not arrive before 4pm to allow Ray to get there first, and you must depart on the Sunday evening.

The dates are 28/29th of July and 22/23rd September 2018.

As usual, we do not have exclusive use of the site and the full size gliding will continue alongside us.

There are toilets on site and sometimes somebody from their club does bacon or sausage butties for us (but this is not guaranteed) and sometimes an Ice Cream van turns up after lunch.

Ray should be there from the Friday late afternoon for the weekend, so come and join us.

Ray and Andy and team TVSA

The venue is about 8 miles East of Swindon (and equally 8 miles from Junction 15 of the M4) and is just off of the A420.

If approaching from Swindon direction (heading East), you have to turn right off of the A420 (after passing under the twin arched bridges) and drive into Shrivenham village (mind the speed humps), where you turn left onto the B4000 Highworth Road, and drive over the A420 again. The site then comes up after about a quarter of a mile on the left. You will see a sign for the club and the wind sock. Enter the gate and drive along the track on the left hand side of the field until it opens out where the Glider trailers are. You should see cars there (and hopefully campers) when you arrive. You will be informed as to where we are parking on that day when you arrive. We have been located in 3 different places so far so it varies and we have to suit the Gliding Club and the Farmer on the day. We should either be flying about 200 yards or so from the club hut end, or across the other side of the strip like last time depending on the wind direction. We have no say in this.

If you are coming from Oxford area, you can take the A420 from Oxford and Shrivenham is about 22 miles from the A34. Again drive into the village centre and just past the centre, turn right on the B4000

The club will be running a BBQ during the day and the site has flushing toilets.
