In 1970 the Petrel was loaned to the Museum being established in an Aer Lingus hangar. Mike Russel came across it in 1973 and later purchased it. These are his comments:

“El-101, alias IGA-101, alias BGA651, alias G-ALPP as I found her aloft in the Aer Lingus No2 Hangar at Dublin. Taken in late August 1973- loaned to the Irish Aviation Museum to have been at Shanon. Raised in May 1970 and lowered October 1973,4 peaceful years and many 707’s later.

Still a sea voyage and 7 more months before flying again.

So did the Museum ever happen?”

Well I am afraid not
