Mike Bond Wilga
Wondering if plans or a short kit is available for Colin and Mike Bond's larger Wilga.
Years ago I bought plans for the quarter scale model, but never built it as I couldn't get the gear made.
I now have someone that is able to help me with the gear, and wanted to build one at 33% scale.
Are the Bonds still selling plans ? Is a short kit available? My email to Mike was not returned.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Mike Bond Wilga
Hi
A word of caution
Many years ago I bought the Colin Bond 1/4 scale Wilga plan published by a British model mag. The plan turned out to be totally unusable ,none of the parts fitted each other ,and a 1/4 ply engine bulk head held in place by 1/32 ply was never going to hold a 80cc petrol engine. I was given a refund, and kept the plans
Some time after I met Colin at a fly in and mentioned the Wilga plan, he told me the drawing he did was never intended for publication, but some one got hold of it ,and it was published. The plan had already been removed from the plans list.
Some time later I did make the wilga ,after re drawing the plan, and using past exsperiance ,it flew very well.
T here is a kit available in both 1/4 and 1/3 scale made by Fisck (may not be the right spelling) but they are not cheap.
Say safe

Re: Mike Bond Wilga
I have Colin/Mikes plans for the 30% and the 25% Wilgas, these newer plans are truly great and any initial issues are resolved.
I'm halfway through the fuz of the 30%, it'll get a DLE 170 when it's done... lord knows when that will be.
SLEC can supply you with a short kit, possibly plans too, but I've always found Mike to be a really nice helpful guy.

I’ve been building a 40% version for the past couple of years.....176” span.....ZDZ-250 power. Those are 8” off-road skate board wheels/tires in the last picture!

Tom, did you get the plans enlarged yourself or did Mick do it?

Hello,
I fly the 30% Wilga 2000 for tugging, and I can tell you it flies a treat. Fitted with a DLE 111.
The implementation in the UK of the EASA regulations takes the maximum take off weight up to 25kg.
This means you could build one with a 150cc or 170cc and be well within.
Just a thought...

As an aside, here is a cracking build thread from a really tidy Ozzie modeller, makes a beautiful job then puts a big Moki radial in her!
