Did you make the legs yourself Darren?

She looks really good.

Hi Elliott
I made the legs as per the drawing except for the aluminium fairing. I bonded foam on the aft edge of the aluminium leg then faired it in and covered them with 200g glass.

I've been trying to make the milling vice work on my lathe to try and do this sort of thing, not having much success...

Getting the bottom of the legs at the correct angle needs a more muscular setup I'm sure, perhaps even an actual milling machine.

Have you seen Steve Davis' wilga? Pure craftsmanship.

Hi Elliot

I made the bottoms of the undercarriage legs for Darren's Wilga and yes they were made on a vertical milling machine after first turning the legs to size on a lathe. The trick is to make good jigs to hold the piece at the correct angles before machining.

Thanks John,

maybe I'll outsource mine then, don't have room for a milling machine sadly, or a mate who owns one!

Thanks, Ell.

you should always have room for a mate who owns a milling machine !!!
