Flair K8 electrification

Post by Andrew Matthews » 20 Nov 2017, 17:28

Hi All, I am currently building a Flair K8 and plan to modify it with the addition of a brushless motor.
I am looking for assistance with the power train as not sure exactly what motor / speed controller would be suitable.
I have been looking at either the Prop drive 4258 500kv or the sk3 4250 350kv motors and ESC of 80 -100 amps all being available via Hobby King.
Battery would need to be around a 5s
Is it possible to obtain commercial motor shaft extensions as I think this may also be a requirement of the build?
The all up weight of the model is planned to be around the 10 - 11 lb mark which should still enable hand launches from the slope or flat field, addition of the power train hopefully will eliminate the addition of the obligatory church roof.....
I would appreciate any suggestions
many thanks in advance

Andy

Have a look at www.topmodel.fr the extended shafts are standard on some X Power motors, I used one with success.

Thank you for these suggestions. Do you know gear motors of Kelvingear?
Regards.
