Unfortunately our flying club (http://www.trmc.nl) have lost our patch recently, proceedings to obtain the necessary permissions for a new location are already on going, but this is going to be a long process and will no doubt take well into 2016 before we'll be able to fly from a new patch of our own.
In the meantime we enjoy the hospitality of a German model flying club (just across the border) in Vreden (http://www.vmc-grenzflieger.de/index.php).

Nice hospitable bunch they are, and for some reason they have a complete squadron of towplanes/pilots, allways ready for aspiring glider pilots to drop you off at any desired altitude (last saturday under a blue sky 3500ft proved to be too high to still be able to see a 9m span discus... ;-)

Anyway....while I recently completed a 1/4 scale Fournier RF-5 (motor powered) because hill soaring is simply NOT an option anywhere near here, the above mentioned developments got me pondering again about the possibility of building a Petrel after all.
I had previously discarded the idea for lack of hills or towplanes in our own club.

Soooo here we are, plans have been obtained and the first formers are ready to be extracted from a new piece of 3mm liteply...
I love this first step of a build..... loads of motivation and no intractable problems in sight .......... (yet)
