Cliff Charlesworth Reiher II

Thought I would start a build thread of my Reiher II. Not built a model since I was 12 years old a Keil Kraft Chief.
Any advice would be appreciated along the way.

Looks like you haven't lost any of your building skills.
You might consider covering the plans with plastic to keep them clean and damage free. I use industrial stretch wrap.

Slow progress but back on it now doing the odd hour here and there.
Done my first ply sheeting to the fuselage after watching the Ghost Squadron video's on how
to do it. Worked out really well quite surprised myself.

Martin, are you making your Flettner Tab functional like I have on the Charlesworth K8 ? The detail is not heavy being all ali construction. Regards John.

Hi John

I have seen another builder who omitted the tab but thought it would be a
nice detail to add in an operational state. Be interesting to see how it effects
the elevator.
How did it work out on your model?

Martin , here are some photos of my K8 Flettner Tab installation. On The K8 the tab is a trim tab operated by the green lever on right side of the cockpit. It works as an antibalance tab ie moving in the same sense as the elevator. It was done to give the less experienced pilots more feel by loading the stick forces and worked very well . On the model it seems to make the elevator response good and progressive. On the Reiher I don't know if it is an antibalance or servo tab system. The trim function from the cockpit used to work but for practicality was later disconnected. Regards John.
