1/4 Jantar-1 - finally getting there

Post by Pete Marsden »

I'm posting this for my own sanity! - it feels like I've been in the shed for months without getting anywhere. However, here's my Jantar-1 finally coming together. The model is '83 vintage but after 25 years in the loft required a lot of work including new wings. (To be fair, I have knocked out a few 1/5 scale Jantars from my own moulds - so have achieved something!)

Pete my Jantar 1 circa 1983 is still giving good service. It is my big thermal soarer. Did you do the built up wings or foam ones ? I spy the original Graupner pilot sitting there . Mine is still there though his red pullover is abit tatty. It is good to see you producing such an iconic model.
Regards John.

Hi John,
My built up wings dried out in the loft so I've gone for vacuumed obechi-epoxy-foam construction. Fortunately I have acres of 3m long 1.2mm obechi in stock.
The pilot is an AH - hence the suntan. Again, I'm fortunate to have several 1/4 and 1/5 scale AH pilots although not all for gliders. Not all of them have tanned!
Regards
Pete.
