and a couple of the inner wing
i seem to have scr***d it up a bit but not sure where
all square on front spars , but root rib seems to be in air about 6 mm , which will make a twist in wing
if i push trailing edge down it the comes away from spars or twists
has any one an ideas ?
here are pics ( excuse the claret )

Mick, run a straight edge along the top spar...it looks from the pic that it bends forwards slightly at the root, which would explain the anomaly.
Also, it's essential that the brass box in the wing is enclosed on both sides of the spars with ply?

thanks chris
have got ply both sides , will try the straight rule - hopefully that will bring trailing edge level
i presume it should all be dead straight across the top and bottom of ribs ?

I'm talking straight as viewed from above? Assuming this is the first wing, the next step would be to dry fit the ribs and spars for the second wing and see if the same thing happens? Annoyingly, although I took over a hundred pics of the build, I don't have one of that particular scenario

have put ruler along spars on both wings
and both root ribs still in air about 6mm , now really confused as it doesn’t seem to want to go straight
any ideas what to do now ?

hahah
yea i know what you mean cliff
think going to put away as getting a bit frustrated , can’t seem to work out everything , (obviously not ) but just can’t see
and it’s same on both wings

Mick,

Is the spar vertical (or at least, the same angle) to the building board all the way to the root rib?

Also, place your straight edge vertically along the top of the ribs, parallel to the trailing edge to see if there is any rise in that rib.

hi robbie
have checked all the angles , all square top and bottom spar
all ribs seem to fit and all at same hight at trailing edge, the root rib is still up in air ???
if i pin the spar down and put trailing edge of root rib down it twists the spars out of shape
can’t work it out , so just going to leave it alone , if i carry on think i will throw it !!!!
will just have to start again , so annoying aaaagh - but ey hopefully get there, just spent
4 hrs trying to sort it with no luck

OK, FBI investigation under way... First of all, R1c is too short: my mistake. Amended PDF attached. Now look at the pic of the root rib. This is actually all the root ribs superimposed on each other. You can see that the spar slots are all identical (Good old Compufoil). So, I've printed out part of the plan and cut some more ribs and...presto a similar result. Putting two of the ribs side by side on the spars shows that they are at a different angle. To quote Douglas Adams: 'this is, of course, impossible'. Have to prepare for MW now, so further investigations will have to wait until Monday
