Hi all, well got my new project from Cliff few days ago 1/3 scale Jakolska drawn by Jilles, second set of drawings I have had from Jilles, really detailed. Cliff has done a fantastic job of cutting the kit out so clean and crisp. Plus has supplied flap tracks, and nose cone 3D printed.
I'll keep you updated on the build as best I can, not going to be a quick build but I'll do my best.

Roo, I remember that glider very well and as you say a lovely glider posed at my old stomping ground Ivinghoe unless I am mistaken. Regards John.

Ok some work carried out to fuse, main wing incedance doubler glued in, canopy/cockpit shelf attached sorry about the weights there just to keep everything flat, I'm enjoying the build chamfering the joints takes time. Secured the fin vertical hope to get the logerons in tomorrow. Just recieved the canopy nice moulding from Sarak.

A little more work done, stringers attached and cockpit sill added, rudder started, and rear incidence doubler fitted, sorry I cant make this exciting but if you built a large model some things go together quickly some need a little fetling, on the whole it is going together well. Stay tuned

Good to hear about the availability of a canopy! Saves a lot of work making a plug! If I wasn't so busy with an Ikarus Meteor I would have joined you in building a Jaskolka

Hi all finally got round to doing some more to the model, finished the rudder now giving the fin some attention, I haven't stuck to the plan in places but this is what a first build is about, I hope you dont mind Jilles.

No problem if you make changes as you see fit. My designs give the general construction details and parts. Builders have their own preferences how things are done. Nothing wrong with it as long as they do not compromise the strength of the basic structure.
These model are large and sometimes heavy, In my view we have a duty of care to make them as safe as possible so they are not a danger to our surroundings.
Going cheap on equipment is a no no. If have seen expensive models with a cheap receiver with reduced range or servo's going bust because of that.

Might be worth at this stage making provision in the rudder for the tail light

Hi Keith,
Great to follow your build thread, pictures are worth a thousand words.
I built my Jaskolka in 1992 from Johns original plans, but John asked me to build the SDZ-8 ` BIS' version which has a different nose profile, one which isn't modelled, or I haven't seen one. ( photo of mine in flight)
Keep up the good work.

More progress albeit slowly, part of fin sheeted ( ive not used the PVA heat method before but am impressed ) started routing elevator servo cables and rudder cables I must admit I'm a bit anal when it comes to installing control runs and electrics, comes from being a mech in the RAF.

Hi first of all my thanks to Cliff for putting my pictures up on the site, I'm having problems with my tablet for some reason.
As you can see I have been working on the tailplane and elevators, all went together well. I did have a small missmatch on the righthand tailplane but sorted with a packing piece.
As for the hatches I have had to enlarge these as I didn't have enough meat on the edges for the servo horn cut out, now sorted.
Hope all are staying safe and building well.

Great pics Cliff. Love the folding tailplane, very nifty. Saves remembering to put spar in the car each time . . .
I wish I had access to vintage gliders flying in my area . . nearest is 450km away . . .
Have a safe lockdown all,

Retract made from Jilles drawings supplied with the plan. This retract will also be used with a couple of hole adjustments for the new L-13 Blanik that will be available as soon as it is built and tested by Jack who will be taking this project on after finishing the 1/3 scale Petrel by Jilles. These units will be made to order at a cost of £130
