Re: TYPE 13 PETREL 1/4 SCALE
But the fuselage on my 1/5 Petrel is skinned with balsa not ply, so I've never used the car filler. The lightweight filler that I use in cracks and dents takes film okay over small areas but, as you say, I'd be wary of larger areas for fear of the filler lifting. I suspect the car body filler has much stronger cohesion than these lightweight fillers though, so may be okay.

If you Google No 63 Rubber Bands, I've been using these for years...

Finally, finally, a decent day's flying at White Sheet. The Petrel, along with other Slope Virgins, like Trev's 5th scale Petrel and my Zugvogel, had a merry old time... (Also, the little Wolf slopeside in it's new livery for the 1st time)

Also, for those who enjoy Scroll Saw Therapy, the parts are available from me in PDF form, all ready to print out in an A4 printer. (Note: always check the printout outs against the plan)

Hey Johnjohn greenfield wrote: ↑28 Apr 2020, 08:57 Alternatively, you could use the PVA and hot iron method. See links to video tutorial below. The video shows wing sheeting around a much smaller radius than a fuselage but the technique is exactly the same but start in the middle of the sheet and attach to a longeron and then work down both sides.

Tried to follow the links to learn about the PVA method.
The links don’t work / unavailable
Any other tutorials you guys can point me towards?
Cheers

Alex,
Link works for me in the U.K.
Try going the long way around by searching for the ‘Ghost Squadron Model Aircraft’ team to see if you can find their main website, then click on the Constructional video & tips button on LH side of main page once you get in.
Good luck,
Peter

Ah yes, although I can get to videos page, I can’t actually get a video to run either
I’m sure John will sort it out before long.
