Sorting the TE brakes and wing tip... I made up the up-turned tips of the full-size, but in comparison to Smallpiece's conventional tips, there seems to be a slight reduction in beneficial stall characteristics, so one up to the Wookie

evening all. i’m looking for a build to do over the next few weeks (!). i would love to go for the petrel )3.4) but my building area is too small. just wondering what options there might be and considering the duster. googling did not turn up much so wondering what the experience of this glider is.

If you're short of space, then the 7th scale Wolf might be the answer...?

Hi all
I've just purchased the the plans and short kit. Looking at the plans, am I right in thinking that the coupling between the centre wing section to the outer wings is friction based using piano wire and brass tubing?

Regards

Mark

What most would do is put the wing together and then a strip of tape over the joint. There are so many different methods for holding wings together. I am sure that members will offer their own views on this subject.

Yes, at this scale, tape is the ideal solution. However, when I did the same thing on the 3.5 scale version, the tape was too strong, and catching an obstacle on its first landing, the centre section was written off as there was no give in the system. This goes to show that the principle of flexibility in a wing retention system is important!

I have just purchased the 1/5th Scale plan from Sarik and printed off one of the larger PDF templates and it is spot on to the printed plan. So thank you for providing these. As this will be only my second plan build / and first glider build, I am still studying the plan and build review from QEFI magazine that Sarik included before making a start.
