Hi Mark, when building my ASK 18, I used threaded horns for the hinges, I doubled up the canopy and frame with ply, to allow the bottom nut to be flush, and for adjustment, 1/16 rod goes through the hole in the horn, dremel out the fuz to take the hinge, glued in with filler, also used another horn the other side to lock the canopy, using a small servo, with a long pin through bowden outer

Mark, the Slingsby style hinges are excellent for the quick removal and fitting of the canopy, you can do it in seconds. You just need some bits and pieces of brass and a soldering iron.
