Hi everyone.

Due to the strong winds forecast, we have decided to cancel Saturday at Shrivenham, but Sunday will remain on. The winds are forecast for 20mph gusting up to 48mph and personally I don't want to sit there in our van, being rocked about like we are in a washing machine. Shrivenham is an open site so it does get the full force of any winds.

I think most people would have selected to do that anyway but it makes sense to make an official decision.

So hopefully Sunday will be a good day

Cheers

Ray (Team TVSA)

I'm told that there will be tea coffee and bacon butties available from the club house this time. Bring some change.

Great day out at Shrivenham today, weather was challenging at times for the pilots but everyone there appreciated the effort of organising the event.
So thanks to Ray, but more importantly to Mandy, oh my god, the lardy cakes!!!!!!!
Full size T21, standing still into the headwind off a winch launch, was fun to watch!

Big thanks to Ray & Mandy & the tug pilots for a good day out. As a free complimentary extra, watching the full-size T21 cope admirably with the wind came as a real bonus!

Hi all
What a shame that the wind was as strong as it was.
I had not flown any gliders for 3 years because in 2016 after Cheddar a tumour was found in my food pipe the OP went wrong and could not be completed.
So my 7mtr Ash 31 MI stayed on the ground.
Weather and my health being good I will be at Middle Wallop in Sept.
It was nice to catch up with Ray and Mandy and some of the other boy's after such a long time.
Many thanks catch you all later.
Colin.

Good to see you again Colin. Hope you get out again soon.
Thanks to all who turned up including John and Tony for the extra towing duties. At least the wind was straight down the runway we were using most of the time. It was quite blustery though, but that does train the senses.
The lardy cake was a new thing so glad you enjoyed it Sean. Mandy says it will have even more fruit next time 😁
I spoke to the full size pilots about the T21 and the waggling tail and they said that the pilot waggles the rudder if the tow is too fast. They were also thankful that the thunder missed us, but just before we left at the end there were 2 very loud rumbles of thunder in the rain, so we were lucky.
It seems a long time ago that we had great weather with lots of thermals and an ice cream van at Shrivenham.
