Hi All

This year there will only be one aerotow at the Vale of White Horse Gliding Centre at Shrivenham near Swindon, which will be over the weekend of August 10th and 11th.

As before you can camp from Friday evening until Sunday evening, but we must be off site by around 7pm on the Sunday.

More details will follow nearer the time but it will be run as in the past, though hopefully with better weather than last years dates where nothing really happened.

Of course, this is pending CAA approval

Cheers

Ray and the TVSA Team

Hi Ray,

I will have to see how I feel but I might be able to do this one, it would be nice to catch up after all this time.
I have only one glider left that is the Ash 31 I got rid of all the others

Hope to see you then.

Hi all. Just a reminder of next month's Shrivenham on the 10th and 11th August. It's not on the calendar but it is booked. Details above.

Hi all

Just a reminder that this coming weekend is this years only Shrivenham aerotow.

I hope to be there around 4.30 on Friday afternoon so if anyone is coming for the weekend, please aim to arrive after this. We've had problems in the past where the gate was locked and the road is not one where you would want to be stopped.

The NOTAM is in place and the Glider club are aware that we will be there.

Anyone can camp for the weekend but we will need to be off site by around 7pm on Sunday so that the gate can be locked again.

Cheers

Ray

I haven't been since 2016 (just checked my picture library!!), so can't quite remember the procedure at Shrivenham.
What is a good time to arrive?
Do we still have to drive around to the flying area, and bring the cars back to the car park??
Planning to come on Sunday, as forecast for Saturday looks windy.
Cheers
Colin

Hi Colin.
The last couple of years we've been driving round the end of the runway and parking on the edge by the dung heap. The cars park nose in around the corner. My van and trailer should be the starting point and nobody to park beyond that.
Pilots briefing will be about 10ish, so probably aim to br there 9 to 9.30ish.
Just make sure when driving round the end of the runway that you stop first to check if there are any full size taking off or landing.

As nobody has stated any intention of camping on the Friday night, I will now not be there until about 7pm. I guess that the gates will be locked looking at the weather forecast. The gates will then be locked overnight. If you are planning on coming Friday you must let me know first.
