Sunday looking positive on Windfinder. there's a band of rain showing as passing to the south ~1300-1400, but otherwise dry! Fingers crossed!

Speeds in Knts... a day for the larger stuff!

Almost went for it, but the three W's (Too wet, too windy, too westerly) make it difficult to attract fliers from any distance away, so attention moves to the backup dates 28/29th August

The age of miracles is not past…! It looks like Sunday’s Scale Fly-In will go ahead on our NE slope on the backup date. This is a 10 minute level walk from the car and the slope has a handy landing area halfway down with easy retrieval should lift disappear. (There is also a huge area in which to land behind the slope)
White Sheet slope map posted for reference

No pre-booking required, but a reminder that BMFA insurance is requirement of the club’s licence, and don’t forget to put your CAA registration number in your models as per Article 16...

An excellent day on our NE slope today, if a little chilly at times. Thanks to all for coming along...

Going to take a punt on this one. A little-known clause in the Brexit agreement means that we can hold events either day of the weekend, so Saturday it is. A due Westerly wind forecast means it will be exactly between our two slopes, but as the wind isn't too strong, some half-decent flying should be possible.

Well, who knew...? On this, the last event as Scale Sec for me, we had some of the best flying weather we have seen in the last couple of years. Starting with a smooth, reliable & gentle lift in the morning, by midday the wind had increased to provide some industrial quality updraft. The two new recipients of the latest CW fleet cull, pronounced themselves well satisfied with their purchases, although Graeme's eff-3-eff instincts nearly caused him to come to a sticky end at the top of a loop...! It was nice to go out on a high, and I look forward to coming under the guidance of newly-minted Scale Sec Jim Emptage at next year's scale flying events...
