Cliff

Can't help out with digs but remember if you are driving in Germany in Jan you have to have "Winter tyres" fitted to your vehicle to comply with German law. A real pain as our UK tyres are not winter rated.

Poppenhausen is the nearest place to stay, it is also where the Schleicher glider factory is based. I visited the factory in 1972 when collecting an ASK13 for our gliding club. They did not do factory tours but I got one anyway probably because we had a bag of money to give them. In that that time they just had their first glass glider in production the ASW15. Now it is all glass what comes out.
If you are interested every village in Germany has its own beer brewery so you could visit this as well.

Great Cliff............but not a lot of good in Germany !!!
Actually, if you are driving direct to the Wasserkuppe and not going into the middle of any major cities you will not need an emissions sticker in France or Germany.

I thought it a EU wide initiative but starting in the major cities first, it will eventually cover all the EU giving advantages to the cleanest vehicles in access of roads for the best routes and parking. It will affect all roadusers, whether it is in the UK laws or whether we leave before? But if you need to cross the channel to go flying........?

Lawrence - I trust you have read the documentation on our site at https://scalesoaring.co.uk/schweyer-spe ... nior-docs/.

As an add-on to that, there is writing on the rear fuselage which is barely readable:

This following information I received about the writing from a German friend, hope it helps:

Thanks for posting, Cliff. I had an email from Peter Ocker yesterday thanking me for the See Adler

Have a safe journey back, there may be possibilities of snow enroute
