Model or Fullsize

Just for discussion.........

In the thread for the 1:1 scale Elfe I asked the question " how does a 1:1 model become a model and not just a fullsize? Is it a replica rather than a model?"
This is just something that crossed my mind when looking at the Elfe as I personally thought that a model was something smaller than the fullsize when it came to aircraft/gliders etc

I think you are right Pat, surely this aircraft should be liable for all the certification and registration that the full size is governed by. After all, model or replica, it is "full size"

Full size it may be, but I doubt it is full weight, or that tug would never have got it into the air so well, if at all.

This may well be a case that "size" really does matter!

There was a case in France many years ago where a modeler built a Jodel that was at a scale of 1.1 / 1. Yes, that right it was bigger than the full size !

The authorities still classed it as a model as it was not capable of carrying or being flown by a person.
