Just heard the government in the daily coronavirus update are going to start trails to make deliveries by drones, with funding to carry out research for this in the future .
Does this mean we will have large delivery drones flying over populated areas ???

It’s when pizza deliveries start that you have to worry about numbers and who will get to it first, the local fox or you? How do they deliver to a block of flats, did someone take your pizza?
On a more serious note why did we ever think we should be taken into consideration?

Re: The truth comes out gov. using drones
Here is a bit more info.
The Dept of Transport has a £29 million project fund for a project called the Future Transport Zone, which is being used to look at moving freight and personal mobility around the Hampshire and Isle of Wight area?. It appears to be using Unmanned aircraft, rather than multi rotor drones. This explains why the Department For Transport were being so difficult during the negations for the registration of drones and including radio controlled models.
The airspace these unmanned delivery drones will have to operate in, will be between 400-1000 ft to avoid entering the light aircraft air space. I feel that once they start developing these aircraft and using them, the 400ft cap will be enforced and the model gliding we all enjoy will be finished, as my 400m start height on the GPS course is way above that !!!
Once these unmanned aircraft become a regular thing, will this be the green light for Amazon to start .......

We need a few more of these incidents/stories as they work in our favour. Obviously we dont need any risk to people or property but can you imagine the chaos this would cause if the airways were as busy as usual.catwok wrote: ↑09 May 2020, 09:32 But then comes the reality of what can happen...
