Electromagnetic interference causes UAV loss

Post by mjcp »

Interesting article regarding the loss of a UAV (a drone in this case) due to EM interference from an HV power line.

Over the years, I have heard anecdotal evidence for problems due to Power lines in the vicinity. This is the 1st I have read about where it has been documented.

It is unclear (I have not read the AAIB report yet) if the operator attempted to take manual control and couldn't, or was reliant on the autonomous flight control only, watching the incident as a spectator.

(please put your "anti drone" opinions to one side for a few mins)
