Painting laminating film

As per the title... I will have some laminate covered foam that will need painting. Any tips?
Its the 75 micron laminate, applied with a covering iron and its the glossy stuff.
Will it need a "scuff" to key the gloss?
What paints *should* adhere? typical rattle can / car paint or do we think it will need a fancy acrylic / primer of some sort?
