I have flown a Capstan, but only off a winch launch. The hook is quite far forward, so you were lucky to get even 1000 ft at Denbigh. I enjoyed the limited stick time I got on it (basically circuits) - I would have loved a chance to get an aerotow on a thermally active day to see what it could do.

Paul, I know we are abit off thread, but I have instructed at Denbigh on the Capstan. With reasonable conditions you should be able to reach the hill from the winch and enjoy some "rock polishing" . Have fun, Regards John.

I agree with that assessment John. Unfortunately the Capstan didn't come out much, and I never had a chance to enjoy it on the ridge. When the club closed, I started flying at Cosford, but in the end the amount of time I could dedicate to flying was below that required to stay current and enjoy it, so I stopped. I now enjoy models when I have an opportunity!
