Whatever happened to AH Pilots

Post by barry h »

Does anybody know what has happened to AH Design Pilots. I believe after Alan sadly passed away that his wife carried on for a short while but nothing after that.
Has anybody bought the business or rights .
Its getting very difficult to find competitively priced Pilots.

Any info would be handy

Thanks

Barry,
Alan's wife carried on for a while, but closed up shop about a year or more ago now I think.
I had one of her last 1/4 scale jobs.

Does anybody have any contact with Alans wife. And if so would she be interested in passing the business on.
Could do with the facility to produce some pilots at a reasonable price.

Barry, I had the last 4 pilots from Sandra (Alan's wife) and she told me that as she was 70 she was retiring the following week and throwing whatever was left into the skip. So I don't think there's anything left of her business sadly. :(

Cliff

I got a quote from real model pilots at Cosford this year for a 1/2 scale head and hands of £50, which I didn't think was too bad at all considering the size.
More normal 1/4 and 1/3 scale sizes would be a bit cheaper so still worth considering.

Like Geoff, I had some of the last pilots from Sandra. I ordered two 1/3rd scale for my Purbeck Fox and one 1/3.5 scale for my ASH 25Mi.
When they arrived I was quite impressed so I phoned her to order another 1/3.5 pilot and she said, "Too late everything has gone in the skip!"
I'm sure that if she had had offered her enterprise for sale, someone would have bought it from her - what a shame!

Hope it's OK to bump an old thread!

I have two AH Design pilots and trying to figure out what they might be worth.

Doesn't look like I can add a picture here. If you are a member of the BMFA Facebook page you can see the pics here:

Or info on price when new would be appreciated.

Thanks, Richard

I think I bought a 1:4 scale AH Designs pilot in 2010 for about £30. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. That's helpful.

I've sold the smaller one for £25 and asking £30 for the larger one which I think is fair.
