Attaching Clevis on to steel pushrod

Post by Chris V »

Hi all,
My new tangent glider is progressing well and I am at a stage where I need to attach the clevis's to the pre intstalled pushrods. The accesory bag contains a couple of adaptors that attach to the metal rod and then in turn the clevis screws onto this. The instructions say to epoxy these adaptors to the steel push rod.

I am not happy about this, the pushrod is about 1.5mm diameter and the hole in the adaptor 2mm, not the best of fits. I could with carefull heat protection solder them on (soft solder) but silver solder is out of the qeustion without melting the fuzz !!!!! blow torch and fibreglass don't mix :(

I cannot take the rods out as they are pre attached at the rudder/elevator ends

Any ideas as to the best way forward ??? I have looked at the Dubro EZ connectors

I think I would be buying some brass clevises or 4/40 clevises and soldering them. Perhaps using a drop of Duzal on the steel rod to clean it. Epoxy and steel does not sound like a safe joint.
