Mid-morning a week or so back I noticed a couple of sailplanes riding high above our house, heading North. Odd, I thought, I haven't heard the tell-tale engine of the Yorkshire Gliding Club tug this morning.

But these weren't locals, they'd already flown 200 miles North from their base at Dunstable and were well on their way towards their goal flight of 1000km. I understand all of them made it by the end of the day. Quite an achievement in the UK. Must require phenomenal skills in piloting, meteorology and bowel control. :shock:
