Question - how do you affix your wing servo hatch covers?

Post by Richard Onslow »

Sorry for another noob build question....

Knowing that servo hatch covers need removing from time to time, I've previously used tape to secure these. But this is untidy, so I'd rather use a 'non-permanent' adhesive.

What is your preferred method/product for this job?

Thanks!

Hi Richard, I still employ Dimond tape made by sellotape (not to be confused with just sellotape standard)
If applied carefully you will hardly see it. ;)

Hi
Dimond tape is a good solution.

On my current Phase 5 build I am using small neodym magnets, photos below.

Thanks guys, do you mean Diamond Tape? If so I can't seem to track that (or Dimond tape) down on google.

Hi Richard,
if your wing is glass or carbon with a hatch recess for the cover, I use RC Modellers glue from Deluxe- it dries clear and used in spots, say 8 points, centres and corners it can be prized off when needed. I have a Simitri F5J which has clear perspex servo covers so this fastening doesn't show but you can see the servo and linkage is OK. if my model was film covered it's 1 or 2 screws at the back with a CF pin at the front to locate the hatch.
hope this helps.

Thank you Phil, it's for a glass/carbon wing, with wood frames inside the servo hatches to support the glass hatch covers. That's the sort of product I had in mind, I just didn't know what it was called!
Cheers, Richard.
