SLINGSBY GULL 3: 1:3.25 scale
Seems to be a bit of a Gull-fest going on at the moment! Having taken a shufti at Vince's excellent plan, I've decided that scaling it down and modifying to my preferred building methods would be more complicated than just starting from scratch, so that is what I'm doing. Many thanks to Vince, for letting me have the factory drawings.
Just like my Petrel, I'm going to build the fuselage with the half-shell method. This has the distinct advantage of being quicker due to removing the need for a jig and a load of jig supports, but suffers from the downside that you have to be a bit vigilant when it comes to keeping everything s-s-straight...
The model will be based on the replica Gull 3, purely because it has a wheel, which makes slope landing just that bit smoother...

If anyone is interested I do have some hard copy photos of the replica Gull 3 taken during the build from way back when I was doing my Gull. I didn't do the replica, it was just out of interest that I went up to see it.
I could easily scan them and make them available.
Be aware, according to Mike Beach the restorer of the original Gull and also the syndicate builders of the replica, they are not the same sailplane.

I think there is one at Lasham, if so, I can get photos if required.

Now all I have to do is find them - it was 1987.
