Milson Airstrip 2018

Post by Ray Watts » 28 Jan 2018, 18:33

With the kind permission of Chris Jones, the owner of Milson Airstrip, near Cleobury Mortimer on the Worcestershire/Shropshire border, we plan to have 2 aerotows this year over the weekends of the June 23rd & 24th and September 15th & 16th.

Weather permitting there should be flying and towing on the Friday as well for anyone that can make it.

This site is very remote and a narrow lane has to be negotiated for the last half a mile to get to the entrance (or more depending on your approach) but it is a very quaint private farm type of full size airstrip with half a dozen or so planes resident in the hanger. Chris, the owner is a very accommodating guy and a modeller as well and loves to have us there, with camping welcomed (I must stress that there is NO Elsan toilet disposal, but there are toilets on site).

The strip is only 30 or 40 feet wide and in a near North/South direction, so good communication is required to coordinate take offs and landing, but all the meetings so far have been friendly low key affairs and have been most enjoyable.

More details to follow nearer the events.

Don't you worry about that Geoff, I'm sleeping in the next field, you know the one, it's where you normally land!

Just noticed that these Milson dates aren't on the main calendar page, are they still going ahead?

Hi Rob

Yes they are going ahead, it's just that I forgot to ask to have them and the Shrivenham dates put on the Calendar.

I will email Barry and ask for it to be done.
