Post by Phill Tadman »

Hi all,

Would a Greenley fitted with a Zenoah62 be capable of towing my 13kg 6.6m Antares?

Thanks

Phil,
My greenly has a 62, with a tuned pipe and 24x8 prop. That would tow it up easily.

Phil

A ZG 62 powered Greenley will easily tow your Antares. Back before tugs engines got fashionably big we used to tow 40% scale glass ships regularly with 50 and 60cc tugs.
Do try it with a tug pilot who knows what he is doing though !!?

I seem to remember that Dave Hoare's cub with a Z62, was used to tow up Andy Shafer's about 1/2 scale glass ship at MW some years back, and when we used to go to Caen years back Marc Hauss told me his 80Lb Grob Acro was towed up by a tug with a Z62...

So yes it can be done, you need nerve, and space.
