The story of UK Military gliding during WW2 is told in a very interesting book “The Wooden Sword” written by Lawrence Wright, published in 1967.
A copy of the scan from the Wally Kahn collection is downloadable for free from Sailplane & Gliding.co.uk

Looks more like an Airspeed Oxford to me - Anson has a curved TE to the rudder and windows all down the sides of the fuz.

Ever tried to count how many gliders??! (definitely an Airspeed Oxford BTW)
