Interesting photo Vince, If I am reading it correctly ,The man in the foreground has all the gliders weight while supporting the tailplane, The 'passengers' legs have gone through the underbelly and is running like hell to get it up to speed, and the guy on the starboard wing has hung on and going for a ride.But then I think the Wombles are real.

Looks like the Long Mynd to me? They still bungee launch there, given enough wind...

I'm fairly sure it is the Mynd Rog and I've done that with a Kite there some years ago - sometime in the 80's I seem to remember.
There was a good 20knots + on the hill mind you.
I also remember the CFI wasn't too chuffed.

I guess if windspeed > stalling speed, VTOL is an option....
