I have acquired a second hand Tangent Nimbus 4 to which I am fitting an electric motor in the nose. Can anyone give me guidance as to a sensible amount of down and side thrust that would help it, or is none required? Some friends build in as much as 7 degrees of down thrust to their scale gliders.
The model is 6m span, weighs around 9.8kg, power is 8S pushing about 2.5kW through a 16x8 prop, 400kv Hacker motor at around 9800rpm.

General consensus was for between 2 and 6 degrees down thrust, but not to bother with side thrust.

I used 8 degrees on my ASH26 (6m) and that's perfect. Some of the smaller leccy gliders seem to have even more than that.
I'd be interested to know why high aspect ratio gliders with long moment arms need so much, perhaps it's decalage related?
