Is 2022 rejecting aerotowing here

Post by BrianF »

Well our away trip for March got washed out with some truly massive rain falls, 600 to 1250mm in three days. Heavy flooding occurred across a large area with many roads closed. The aboriginal name for the area is Munbilla, means large lagoon, it is. Our own field is closed for the foreseeable future as are many in the region. April aerotow at our field does not look likely at this stage. The runways are 2m underwater, parts of the field are over 6m deep. Our access road is washed out and all our field maintenance gear was inundated. The water has already subsided 1.5m in these images. The last image is a pair of fish swimming under our shelter!
Time for float planes ........................ Never thought I'd need a Seeadler.

Still trying to have an aerotow day here. The field did dry out, we did a big cleanup and I have flown models there, however frequent rain affects our access. We did plan one at another field over 200km away, it was washed out as well.
I should be towing and flying as I write this, but the track to the field is still damaged and too muddy after heavy rain yesterday and I had to cancel it.
Heavy rain is forecast for the next week

Next month maybe ...............

Unbelievably, that rain turned into a torrential downpour that has again flooded our field to almost the same extent!

Very frustrating, half the year almost gone and no aerotow. :(
Almost reached the sun shelter roof. Runway 2m+ underwater
