Many years ago I had an interesting discussion with a former DFS.230 pilot. He flew then on the Russian front and said not only did they thermal but thermalled better with a full load of troops............ the only downside being that it took ages to clean the inside of the glider afterwards !!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely true.
