Arthur,
We posted the plan on the site.
The CNC kit is something else. I know that a few people are building or have build the K14.
This I know because of the piece that have been send around the globe.
Building is one thing, finishing and flying it, is the ultimate thing!
This is one on film I know finished it and flew it see the film:

The construction however is not that simple.
You should have a bit of building experience!!!
Maybe that is why it is not that popular.
I have have changed e.g. the wing joiner, you should use a round shaft. The screws to hold the wings are only working up front at the LE.
I solved the problem beginning this year to hold my wings to the fuselage by cutting a hole in the box behind the the flat steel joiner. A plastic tie rap or strap as we call it, will be pulled through the eye bolds so the wing can't move. After flying the strap is cut.

The drawing can be printed as it is.
You would have a 1/1 scaled drawing being 1/3 scale or the 1/4 scaled one.
A copy centre can do this for you.
If that fails I can send you the drawings over, PM me.
On the landing gear...
This is the hard part.
Please contact me for it if you want to go scaled like the drawings show you.
I made a few changes so it is more stable now. How would I know...
Mine is now flying very well and I have the same motor setup as the one in the film.
The motor however is no longer available from Graupner.
It was the Compact 610 Z with 29.6 V turning a 17x9" prop that is all feathering.
Works great but I told you this before...
I could also make you a CD with all the pictures about the K14 I have.
These will help you with your building 200%... ;)
See also the old forum on the K14...

I do hope this helps,
Noël

Hi,

I can ask, my friend who designed the K14, if he has the wing designed in Compufoil.
If not I can do the wing too but at the end of July...holiday and more work first...a Milan...

Know the wing to the elevator should be only 2° or a bit less. This could be a bit to much on the drawing I was told.
I fly the fuselage originally build with a bit down elevator.
This morning I measured the settings as I fly the K14:
2° incidence to the elevator. The elevator is an all moving one.
Wash out is also on the tip 2° down so at zero at the wing tip.
The airfoil is the Wortmann FX 60-130 to 60-126.
Is the same airfoil as on Cliff Charlesworth K16.
Soars fantastic!!!
Ailerons are 15 mm up and 10 mm down
elevator is 25 mm up and down
rudder has max travel due to a swivel tail wheel or about 80 mm either side
airbrakes go 25° and 65° up on a 3 position switch on the stick.

I hope this helps,

Noël

Hello,
I am a prospective buyer of an ask 14 kit, I was given the link to one website that offers the kit and I would just like to know how hard it is to build.
This would be my first build so it would be cool to have assistance from you, the pictures I saw on the page were pretty cool, and looked helpful. I also found another website offering a kit and I will post both links below. Which one of the two kits would be best for a first time builder? I'm almost dead set on an ask 14 even though I heard it's not the best for a first time builder, It's a sexy ship and It fits in the light sport catergory here in the united states so I would be able to fly it when I finish training for my light sport license.

This is the website that was sent to me on this forum.

This is the one that I found.
Thanks,

Hi Hobby,

I still think as you want to build the K14 as a first build, this is not the best idea you can come up with.
The wing building would be straight forward but with the under camber...
The fuselage is all covered with ply 0.4 mm or 0.6 mm. There is nothing straight on the fuselage either, so you would need some good experience with building a kind of ship like this, my thinking.
Although, there were a wish is, is always a way!!!
The landing gear is also on the drawings scaled.
I had to change quite a few things to make it bullet proof.
Over the last few days I had to reinforce the rear former of the gear.
Maybe a glider retract can be used instead...
The first K14 wood pack is our free download plan on this site. see motor gliders
I can help you with the cowl and canopy see the PM.
The other one is a bit bigger and this would help to work inside the fuselage.
Also the wing profile is better in the way that it can be flown slower during landing.
The Worthman FX 26-130 to 126 drops out the sky, if flown to slow, specially during landing, how do I know.
What you need to change too is the wing joiner.
Make it a round 16 mm steel, a linear bearing steel rod or glass fiber one of 20 mm dia.
Hope this helps,
Noël

Hello,
well if you say the ask 14 would be a bad first build do you know of a motor glider that would be a good first build?
Also what kind of a controller and all of that associated equipment would be best for a first time model flier?
thanks,
Hobby

You might do worse than to try the 1/4 scale version of the K11. Relatively simple construction (no retract to worry about), handily-sized, inexpensive electronics and safe handling in the air, with a reasonable thermalling performance.

Hi Hobby and Chris,

Yes Chris is 200% right here!
This would be a very good first to build motor glider. Know that the K11 was the predecessor of the K14!
This way the K14 is not far away either... ;)
The film speaks for itself here!!!
Enjoy and let your love grow on behalf of the K11, the K14 can still be build later.

Grts,
Noël
