Only a week to go.
This is an event for under 25kg models only, and only for BMFA members. SAA or LMA membership for insurance purposes is now not acceptable. The site permit is issued by the BMFA for its members only. I do not apply for LMA cover for any over 25kg models. So max 25kg or you will be operating without insurance.
For those camping, you can arrive on Friday, there is water available and there are 2 toilets that you can use, BUT (!) there is no Elsan disposal on site, and of course, there is no electric hook up. You need to be self-sufficient for the weekend, take your rubbish away with you. There is however a hangar for overnight assembled model storage and 240v for battery charging.
Payment is £10.00 per day to the charity box for glider pilots and by voluntary contribution for tug pilots. If you do not intend to contribute, then please do not bother coming. Proceeds will be split between the local Cosford Air Ambulance Trust and the Shrewsbury Hospice as has been done in the past.
Pilots briefing at around 10am. You need to be there for that in order to fly. If you are not at the briefing in time, then when you arrive, you will need to be briefed personally by me, you will have to wait if I am busy, so please be there for 10am. Bring proof of current BMFA Insurance.
Directions - Google "Sherlowe Airstrip" for your sat nav directions. Please note the direction of approach as it MUST be from High Ercall village and NOT the B5063 Cotwall Road from the back of Telford. That is a private road with lockable gates and too narrow to turn around in especially if you are towing a caravan or in a motorhome.
If you come this way, go past the left into Sherlowe lane and carry on doing 3 lefts into High Ercall and approach Sherlowe Lane from the other (western) end. Then right to Lower Grounds Farm.

Re: Sherlowe 2024 dates
Great (hot) day at Sherlowe yesterday thanks to John, Bob and the tuggies.
Queues everywhere you go these days.
You never quite know what will turn up at Sherlowe - and no, it's not a replica.

Re: Sherlowe 2024 dates
Thanks to all who came along a flew at the weekend, especially the tuggies Ray, Phil, Elliott and Richard.
We raised £385 for the charity box and despite a downpour for half an hour on Saturday pretty much had wall to wall sunshine the whole time. We were treated to a T28 Trojan fly by at windsock height and Bob's new Husky and a Bucker Jungmeister landing for a chat and cuppa with us and a few aeros. What's not to like?
Milson in a month here in Shropshire and then the next Sherlowe on August 9,10 and 11.
Hope to see some of you then.

Re: Sherlowe 2024 dates
Thanks to all who attended over the weekend. An excellent weekend despite some drizzle and clag on Saturday morning which cleared about 11.30. Nice conditions Saturday afternoon and a calm evening for the flying electric and vintage models floating about while the rest of us had our fish and chips / kebab / dinner.
But stunning weather all day Sunday for some superb long thermal flights. Thanks to the tug pilots Phil Pearson, Simon Thornton, Ray Watts, Richard Barley and Elliott Howells - wouldn't happen without you. There were 30 glider pilots and we raised £435 for the two charities (local children's hospice and air ambulance) this time. I'll leave it to others to post some pics.
