Can anyone tell me if it is OK or not to plug an Esc into the throttle servo port on a Digital Futaba (7014) receiver or does it have to be analogue ?????
Many thanks for any info.

Jess,
I would hope so or we are all in deep doodoo.

All our receivers have been digital for years.

Barry,
Presumably if the receiver can generate a short frame rate then this may be ok for digital servos, but analogue types (including ESCs?) are less happy & need the longer one.
Not sure if this is relevant to the Rx Jess has.
(Just thinking of the issue Mark Dev was having with his new FrSky Rx)

Up until recently, I am not sure anyone knew what frame rate was.

I can ask Mike Ridley.

Thanks guys I really appreciate your input, the installation is in my Alpina E I was using Graupner MC32 and all worked fine I have changed to Futaba 18MZ with 7014 receiver and the Esc initially didn't work at all but with further fiddle'g about it went pop, So not to be beaten I have a new Esc. I have read the instructions thoroughly again and again and there is no mention about using analogue or digital port in the receiver my hesitation is in the Rx instructions it states "Digital servos only" Hmmmmmm what do I do !!!!!

Jess

Instructions that come with the 7014SB receiver are very clear on this.

Analog servos cannot be used with the R7014SB in the FASSTest
12CH mode.
• When the FASST Multi-ch High-speed Mode is used, analog servos
cannot be used at the CH1 -6 outputs for convention systems. How-
ever, in other than the FASSTest 12CH mode, analog servos can be
used at CH7-12, DG1 and DG2 at any time.

What this means is you should treat your ESC as an analog servo so set your "Systen type" to FASST 18CH and then plug your ESC into channels 7 to 12 and using the "Function" screen in the linkage menu to assign your chosen channel to the motor function.

John

Thank you for clarification on that, yes it does say "However in other than the FASSTest 12CH mode" but as it is a 12 Channel receiver I assumed which is wrong that the "FASSTest 18CH mode" wouldn't apply. So I will do what you advise treat the Esc. as analogue and all should be fine. :) :)

Hi Jess
The 7014 receiver is actually a 14 channel receiver but silghtly confusingly you need to set your "system type" to 18 channel.
