Hi chaps,

looking to expand my workshop a little and wood love a vertical mill, doesn't have to be anything clever really (remember I'm using it) any suggestions? I'm looking at something benchtop rather than floorstanding and less than £1000. Your opinions warmly received ;)

Ell.

Hi Ell
As well as access to 'industrial' machines, I have a centec at home but they are large/heavy and not easy to find these days.
My son purchased one of these a few years ago

It sits comfortably on an average worktop and I have been most impressed by its rigidity and build quality.
If you have space for a dedicated Mill, I would advise against anything that is a "Combined Mill & Lathe" as they are not that versatile and their setups tend to be excessively fiddly.

Thanks Spike, that's really good advice.

I was looking at something like this: http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-en ... ill-101598

but it's a little more than I can afford right now (for what's essentially a toy) I'll have a good compare with the clarke machine.

I already have a small lathe which suffices for most things, but setting up to do any milling on it is a right PITA.

Thanks again, Ell.
