Regarding rod sizing, and this may well be blindingly obvious to all but me, is it acceptable/safe to reduce over size rod by sanding please?

You can check this by sanding the end a bit. If you get grey sanding dust it is glass fiber, black dust is carbon.

i got mine from ebay , there is a guy who supplies for motorbikes etc -carbon bits etc
i got inner and outer , perfect fit and more or less any size you want
try it , i will try to find the link

i find a little search on ebay and you can find great deals on carbon rods from china, protruded mostly but if buying in bulk some good competitive prices.

I have been buying my carbon rods, tubing and square stock from AlieExpress. Just bought 7mm x 5mm tubing 500mm length 8 peices for 18.24 USD. Shipping is free and no tax for us here in US.
