Middle Wallop 2019

Post by john greenfield » 06 Feb 2019, 09:21

Hi all

A big thank you to everyone who took part in the poll or contacted us directly with comments (positive and negative) about our proposal to keep MW going.
After a lot of discussion and a few sleepless nights, we have decided to give it a go and will be running 4 meetings at MW this year. This is still a gamble but with decent weather and a good attendance we should be able to secure the future of this event. It is now over to you to support the meetings with the best attendance.
The dates for 2019 are:-

May 18 / 19
June 15/ 16
September 7 / 8
October 5 / 6

We now ask that the 11 people who voted to pay up front on the poll + Mell, now contact John so arrangements can be made to secure payment at the appropriate time. We still have to complete the last formalities for the licence before payment needs to be made but we need to identify the heroes who voted to pay up front. We ask that they email John at jgreenfi@hotmail.co.uk

More details of the new arrangements to access MW will be given nearer the time of the first meeting in May but in the meantime please get the dates in your diaries and spread the work to any glider guiders you know who are not regular readers of SSUK

Great news, well done to all involved in keeping this great event going, always a great social event and good flying.
Sounds like the BMFA site protection team should be looking at what the DIO are doing. Sites like MW are becoming rare, and are required by us, not many places you can fly 6m+ gliders, same for the gas turbine guys.

A big thank you to the 8 people who have emailed John so far confirming their commitment to pay upfront for MW. May we now ask that the other 4 who voted to pay upfront email John by the end of the weekend so we can confirm details. jgreenfi@hotmail.co.uk
We do have a "reserve list" of people who have offered to assist and will look to that list, if necessary, to secure the 12 we need.

Thanks

We only got 9 replies from the 12 who voted to pay upfront to keep MW going. This is slightly concerning but fortunately, we do have a small reserve list of people who contacted us directly.
The list is now closed and we will be contacting those on the reserve list to secure the 12 people necessary to underwrite the event.

Only around 6 weeks to go until the first MW aerotow event. Have bumped this up the page as some members may not have noticed the dates yet. John has finished the haggling with the authorities ( unless they throw any more spanners into the works from quite a collection of them) ) and I have played detective with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation in my yearly game of finding out what poor beggar has the poisoned chalice this year.....must be poisoned as I never deal with the same person the following year.
