ARUP wrote: 09 Jun 2019, 23:23 I responded on your other thread before seeing this one. Nice repair being done I might add! I have this kit NIB. If I flew it sedately, i.e., no high speed passes or aerobatics, is the wing stout enough as is or is a 'spar letting' session needed? Thank you for your response in advance.
Just to chip in here as I fly this model A LOT. :D

I think the wings are a beautiful balance of strength and lightness. They have a thick section which lends them natural strength, then glasscloth and epoxy-bonded skins with just the right amount of flex. Tight loops and rolls are no problem and I've outside looped it (on purpose) and done very sharp high-speed pull-outs (not on purpose).... and the wings just soaked it up.

There's a few videos off the slope (skip to 1:32 if you want to see a few aeros):

So it's pretty much my perfect model, and the only plane that if I wrote it off today I'd buy another tomorrow (although no easy thing as they're not made any more  )

Hope this helps.

The joiner in my kit was a 20mm steel tube that weighed a ton (slight exaggeration). I switched it out for an aluminium tube which I filled with carbon, saving over 1lb in weight.

Thanks roger. I have decided to make the canopy myself two days bad weather only 1 hour to make plug and 1/2 to pull canopy today.

Looks like your almost there, can't keep up with you,KA6e, Ash31 and the Grob. some work load. Out of interest what did you make the canopy plug out off, to make it hard enough to pull the canopy over it?
