Firs Farm Aerotow 2023 (Berkshire)

Post by Paulba »

Thanks to all that have responded to the previous post regarding the new site in the South of UK.

I can now confirm this site can be used and have dates for next year. I hope this will be a yearly venue, with the potential for a twice a yearly event in the future.

This will be a two day event, dates will be the 1st weekend in July, with back up dates due to poor weather on the last weekend of July. I have tried to deconflict with other events in the South.

Primary 1st & 2nd July

Back up 29th & 30th July.

Admission (per day) for glider pilots will be a minimum donation of £10, observers £5. All money raised will go to the Farmers chosen charity (Air Ambulance) There is no money being made or admin costs.

Flying times will be from (1000hrs to 1730hrs Towing) (1730hrs to 1930hrs electric only)

Non scale electric models will also be welcome all day, if however the sky gets too crowded it will be restricted to towing scale gliders only during that period. This will be a very relaxed fun event for all.

Camping is also available on site, there are toilets on site but no showering facilities. There is a vast amount of local hotels and pubs nearby for those travelling greater distances.

Three tug pilots have confirmed their attendance, should you also wish to tug at this event, this will be welcomed, please DM me and I will add you to the list.

There will also be the ‘Chris Strong’ trophy up for grabs (details to follow)

Should you wish to view the venue, please use the link below. (5 mins from Junc 13 M4)

Further details will be posted closer to the time, we look forward to you supporting this event.

B****r

First weekend in july clashes with LMA Cosford and the last weekend with the Ghost Squadron camp at Binham. I do wish you success with the meet though and my offer to help with getting a NOTAM to cover the event still stands.

Paul
I hope to be there one day at least.
Only 49 mins from home, so no excuse, and the site looks lovely.
Cheers, and happy new year.
