Sherlowe 2023 dates

Post by FrankS »

John Minchell is having some problems posting on the forum at the moment so has asked me to post the following for Sherlowe 2023

Dates now approved for the two weekend events.
Bank holiday weekend, 27th & 28th May. No flying on the Monday.
And August 12th & 13th.

Usual set up - can arrive Friday and must approach from the village of High Ercall NOT from the eastern end of Sherlowe Lane.
Height exemption for up to 25kg models is in place and all pilots must have current BMFA membership (or equivalent) for insurance.

Let John know via WhatsApp or email (j.minchell@btinternet.com) if you're attending.

Already in my diary.

The date is rapidly approaching for the first Sherlowe event ladies and gentlemen (I refuse to acknowledge that there are any other genders, & ladies are first because it's polite). Please let me know if you are attending with you BMFA number so insurance can be checked.
There are flush toilets on site and a hangar for the models overnight, 240 volt power for charging and £10 per day into the charity box for flyers, spectators are also welcome. Usual rules apply on directions. Do not approach from the eastern end of Sherlowe Lane only from High Ercall.
Only need to organise the sunny weather and Notam now!

If you use Google Maps for your sat nav on your phone (which is free and has traffic and speed camera warnings), put Sherlowe Airfield in as the destination, and it will take you right up to the gate.

Great day at Sherlowe yesterday even if it was a bit on the hot side.

Big thanks to John for a well organised meet and also to the tuggies and their assistants for all their hard work (you know its been a good day when you take home all the towing loops you came with).

Yes, great weekend. No wind most of Saturday with lots of thermals, and hot, and a steady managable queue with 5 tugs on hand. Quieter on Sunday but still lots of flying plus a short display of agility from Bob the site owner with his full size Husky when he flew off to work in the morning. Well done John M for organizing.

Yep, very enjoyable Saturday, despite the IS-5 refusal for controlled flight.
